Her Excitement Over His Arrival

So, there I was, standing in the doorway, watching her. She’s got this bouquet of pink flowers in her hand, and she’s grinning like a kid on Christmas morning. ‘I can’t believe it,’ she says, her voice all breathless and excited. ‘He’s actually coming over tonight.’ And I just stand there, sort of in shock, because I’ve never seen her like this before. She’s been talking about it for weeks, and now it’s finally happening. I can see it in her eyes, the anticipation, the thrill. It’s kind of scary, actually, how much she wants this.

And as I look around the room, I notice the little things. The way she’s dressed, all fancy in that black satin thing with lace. The way she’s posing for the selfie, like she’s already imagining the night ahead. It’s like she’s been planning this moment for ages, and now it’s finally here.
